| WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT? |

Having watched the match on Saturday night, a number of things spring into mind. Firstly, how lucky Bradford really are, having friends in high places. We lost to a try that never was!! No matter how you disguise it, a knock on is a knock on. Secondly, what is wrong with this Saints team?, when they can't get themselves up for a Grand Final place! Thirdly, Robert Connolly is a piss poor referee! Finally, Ian Millward needs to stop messing his team about. On the first point, one can't help feeling all the league are playing the officials as well, when they play Bradford. It's not just Saints who get a raw deal, everyone does! Yet again, a match is decided by a dodgy decision in Bradford's favour. How many times are we going to see this game corrupted by an obvious leaning to Bradford on any decision. Even the sky commentary team are biased, Stevo is so biased it takes the piss! Richard Lewis needs to take a good look around, then ask why so many people have been put in jobs by Chris 'son of satan' Caisley. The answer is frightening, just about everyone! Is it any wonder they get all the advantages, from fixture lists to refereeing decisions. On my second point, I wonder what it is going to take, to get this Saints side to get up for a big game. We lost the Challenge Cup and two other games to Wigan in the first thirty minutes. Then we had this debacle against Bradford. No matter what excuses we hear, Bradford were allowed to play. James Lowes was never put under any pressure from the markers in the first half. Deacon never received any pressure on his kicks. The result is a 20 point margin to turn around. We need to ask, does this team have the hunger anymore? Or is it the preparation that is at fault? Possibly, the mental attitude of the players is at fault. I think the hunger is still there, based on the fight back. But I think we have a combination of preparation, along with the wrong mental attitude. We did not want to do the hard work, well I'm sorry, you don't win big games by being lazy! The players and coaching staff need to take a long hard look at themselves this week. As for Robert Connolly, a number of things are obvious. When Greg McCallum down graded his brother John, he got the wrong man! This guy can't count to ten because we never went back ten yards all the match. He seems to only spot forward passes by players in white jerseys. There must have been thirty forward passes in this game, all bar two from James Lowes, yet the only two he spotted were the only two made by Saints. Amazing! In the first half we never got the ball, thanks to a succession of penalties to Bradford for offside and lying on. This despite Bradford being far worse than we were. If you don't believe me watch the video! He also needs to be told the man playing the ball cannot move off the mark. They did it all night, stealing yards all the time. Finally, Ian Millward needs to stop messing his team around. It worked once changing the team before kick off, nobody cares now! It's expected and the only team it affects is us. Its either that or we need to change the way we warm up! I understand that Tommy Martyn was injured due to a hairline fracture, but if Longy was injured in the warm up, it would not help by putting him on the bench, he will have cooled down and stiffened up, so I don't believe he was injured for one minute! If Martyn was injured, Long had to start. With the match now against Wigan, if we lose this one, you could well get your P45 Ian. FOUR defeats to Wigan is more than we can stomach. As it happens, I think Wigan won't beat us. I think whoever plays us next week, will get an almighty hiding. We have Long back with a game now under his belt, as well as dented pride to restore. We should come out all guns blazing, if we do Wigan will fold. Wigan need to be well in front after 30 minutes to stand a chance. This team has no juice in the tank and they are creaking and bending. On Friday they will shatter into pieces. A massacre is about to unfold and I can see a 40 point thrashing on the cards. Then it will be time to show Bradford again, that we will always win the finals against them! This time we will meet you tuned up after two games, god help you! |
